Last week students from American Karate Studios in Guymon, Spearman, Gruver and Borger competed in the AAU Taekwondo National Championships in Austin consisting of thousands of athletes from across the country.
Four-year-old Issac Garcia of Borger won Silver in Fighting and the Bronze in Forms in his division.
Master MarkAnthony Baca of American Karate Studios, was pleased with his student’s performance, saying, “Their was some really tough competition. Issac was almost not allowed to compete because he was too young. He was the only child four years old at competition and he competed with children about to turn six years old and did very good.”
Isaac’s older brother Alex did not come home with a medal. However, Baca was pleased with his performance, saying, “ Alex had some stiff competition but walked away with experience and had tons of fun in the big city. No doubt both brothers did awesome.”
