Local, state officials investigating suspicious death

April 22, 2011

(UPDATE: According to information received from the Borger Police Department, this has been ruled a homicide. More details will be available later this evening.)

Local and state officials are currently investigating a suspicious death in the Keeler Heights area.
According to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the Borger Police Department, yesterday morning before noon, officers responded to Garrett Street in reference to a death.
Once they got over there and began to investigate, the Texas Rangers were called to assist in the investigation.
He said as of right now foul play or natural causes cannot be ruled out, and the autopsy results are scheduled to be released today. The identity of the victim has not been released as of yet.
Lt. Griffin said officials worked at the scene until late last night. He said he knows local citizens are anxious for public safety reasons, but also wants to put their minds at ease and quell any gossip or rumors that may be spreading.
“So far this is just an isolated incident,” he said.
The Borger News-Herald will continue to follow this story and will make information available to the public as soon as it is released.
