Local officers go bald for one of their own

June 13, 2011

Deputies from the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Department of Public Safety and the Borger Police Department went bald for one of their own on Saturday. These officers shaved their heads on Saturday on behalf of Ruth Frederick, an office secretary for the HCSO.
Frederick, who has worked for the office for more than 20 years, was diagnosed with breast cancer and begins her chemotherapy this week.
The event took place this past Saturday at W&S Day Spa. Chief Deputy James Qualls stated that the officers wanted Frederick to know they were in her corner.
He said, “We don’t want her to do it alone, we just want to show our support,”
Among those getting their heads shaved were Eddie Watson, Andy Trahan, Donnie Davis, James Qualls, Kurt Coker, Cade Turner, Durk Downs, Caden Downs, Cody Hinders, Justin Farmer, Aaron McWilliams, Klete Wagner, and Jayson Webb.
Frederick, dressed in a pink shirt and jeans, also was in attendance at the event.

What a BRAVE way to show your support. I haven't been home in quite a while, but I am very proud of all of you. I wish Ms Frederick the best and recovery. My sister Patti, went through the same thing. It is a very tough and trying time. She made it--you can, too! I hope to see a follow up article rejoicing in your victory.

(You may remember me as one of Lorene's daughters, or Max, Shane, Scotty's, or Shelia's sister:) )
