Leon Grist, 87, of Borger, passed away, Saturday, March 31, 2012.
Leon Grist was born Wednesday, January 21, 1925 in Paris, AR to Aron and Theora Elizabeth (Ezell) Grist. He was a Chief A engine mechanic for Skelly-Watkins Gasoline plant at Spring Creek for 35 years. Mr. Grist married Lennis Boren on Dec. 24, 1947, in Pampa, TX.
Mr. Grist and his wife were volunteers for Meals on Wheels for the Borger Opportunity Center for over 22 years. He participated in the Relay for Life Walk as a cancer survivor and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lennis; their son, Gary Grist; and one sister, Hazel Dean Beavers.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Grist Frazier and Kim Grist both of Borger, TX; three grandchildren, Jeremy Frazier, Bryan Frazier and Dustin Grist; one great granddaughter, Brianna Grist; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Stinnett Cemetery, Stinnett TX with Brant Davis officiating.
Mr. Grist will lie in state at Browns Chapel in Borger, TX on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.
