On Saturday, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball team split its two game series with Adams State JV in Colorado.
The Lady Plainsmen dropped the first game 11-3 but won the second game 13-5.
In game one, Frank Phillips College jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hold on and lost 11-3. While Frank Phillips College led until the fifth inning, Adams State JV worked its way back and took the lead on an RBI single in the fifth inning.
In the second inning, Christine Blankenship hit a triple to bring in two RBIs.
In game two, Frank Phillips College rolled over Adams State JV 13-5 after a seven-run rally in the second inning.
Lucinda Ponce racked up six RBIs on three hits for Frank Phillips College. She homered in the second inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
Ashley Abair allowed five runs over six innings to record the victory. The Frank Phillips College pitcher struck out four, walked one and surrendered 10 hits.
Frank Phillips College pounded Adams State JV pitching, as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
The Lady Plainsmen improve to 11-27 overall and will next host Western Texas College in a two-game series on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
