On Friday, Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen Head Volleyball Coach Ashley Dyer signed Dumas outside hitter Allison Kiewiet at the BCAC.
Kiewiet was a four-year letterman for a successful Dumas volleyball team, averaging 17 kills and four blocks per match.
On signing the Dumas outside hitter, Coach Dyer said, “I feel very fortunate to have signed an athlete like Allie. She comes from a great volleyball program and learned from one of the best high school volleyball coaches. She has very good skills and court knowledge and has so much ability! She is going to have a huge impact on FPC volleyball and we are all very excited to have her as part of our team. I am looking forward to a great season next year.”
In 2010-11, Kiewiet was named to the 4A TGCA All-State team, TSWA 4A All-State team, Amarillo Globe News Super Team, and District 3-4A First Team All-District.
The small classroom settings and being close to home were key selling points for Kiewiet, who said, “I was recruited by six different universities. When I toured Frank Phillips College, I knew it was a great fit to start my education. It is close to home and the classes are smaller. I want to study nursing and the nursing facilities and staff were totally geared towards the students. I was also impressed with the volleyball program and the team. The girls on the team were lots of fun and made me feel included and comfortable on my recruiting visit. Coach Dyer and Coach Moffitt were upbeat and encouraging with good volleyball background. The Frank Phillips campus had a lot more to offer than I had previously thought. I’ll be anxious to get started this fall.”
