Lady Bulldogs square off with Levelland in Bi-District playoff

April 27, 2011

On Friday evening the Borger Lady Bulldog Softball Team will return to the playoffs, for the first time in several years, when it takes on the Levelland Loboettes at 5:30 p.m. in Hereford.
After a couple of years of going through growing pains with a young team, Lady Bulldog Head Coach Steve Watkins did a good job of keeping the team together as it grew and became a senior led team this season on their way to a 17-17 regular season record.
The Lady Bulldogs clinched their trip to the playoffs by going 4-5 in District 1-3A play to claim the second seed.
Levelland enters Friday’s contest with a 19-15 overall record, with the Loboettes coming in as the number three seed from District 2-3A.
In 2009 and 2010, Borger and Levelland squared off as district foes, so there will be some familiarity between the teams when they step onto the field Friday evening.
The winner of the game will take on Andrews in the 3A Region I Area round next week.
