Lady Bulldogs soccer recap from Wichita Falls

January 23, 2012

Over the weekend, the Borger Lady Bulldog soccer team took part in the United Invitational Tournament in Wichita Falls, competing against some of the better soccer teams in the state.
The Lady Bulldogs opened the tournament on Friday, losing to Wichita Falls High School 4-0 and Kennedale 5-0.
On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs came away with a big win over Wichita Falls Hirshi 6-1, but finished the tournament with a 4-0 loss against Wichita Falls Rider.
Considering the competition they were playing against, Borger Head Soccer Coach Damian Simmons liked what he saw from his team, saying, “I was very pleased with the overall effort that these ladies put out. We went down there to play good teams, which will make us better for district play.”
In tournament play the past two weekends, Simmons has been pleased with the effort of the Lady Bulldogs goalkeeper Haley Ward, saying, “I have to give it up to our goalkeeper Haley Ward. She has come up huge between the pipes this season. Its really tough when you are making 15 to 20 saves a game and the score sheet does not reflect how good she is really doing back there for us right now.”
The Lady Bulldogs will play another tough game tomorrow night when they host Amarillo High beginning at 6:00 p.m.
