On Wednesday evening, the Amarillo Caprock Lady Longhorns scored a goal in the 71st minute to force the 2-2 tie with the Borger Lady Bulldogs in District 5-4A action.
The game was a rescheduled contest from last Friday, when the game was cancelled due to a muddy field.
In the fourth minute, the Lady Bulldogs had the first scoring opportunity of the game, when Shelby Harris appeared to break open with the ball. But Harris’ shot would get deflected keeping the game scoreless.
Neither team had another good scoring opportunity until the 38th minute when Caprock was able to put the ball in the right corner of the net to make it a 0-1 score.
The second half started with the Lady Bulldogs getting on the scoreboard on a Sammie Huckabee goal in the 42nd minute.
In the 44th minute, Bethany Barnhart had a good shot attempt to try to give Borger the 2-1 lead. But Barnhart’s shot would fall short of the goal keeping the score, 1-1.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead when Marisol Terrazas put the ball in the net on the rebound off a free kick.
Solid defense made it appear as if the Lady Bulldogs would hang on for the win. But a big break in 71st minute gave Caprock to chance to get the goal and play to the tie.
The tie takes the Lady Bulldogs district record to 0-2-2 and the team will next travel to Canyon on Friday to take on Randall beginning at 5:00 p.m.
