Lady Bulldogs and Lady Comanches open season with losses

Going into the season, Borger Head Coach Travis Nicks said he expected to see his young Borger Lady Bulldogs team to go through some growing pains to start the 2011-12 season.
On Tuesday evening, the coach’s words proved to be true as the Lubbock Estacado Lady Matadors built a 34-8 lead by halftime on their way to beating Borger 63-24.
Freshman Tiffanie Prater led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with nine points, followed by Vanessa Jones with six points.
Due to the Lady Bulldog volleyball team losing on Tuesday, the girl’s basketball team will add junior Emma Wood and sophomore Nellie Embers to the roster when they host White Deer next Tuesday, November 15th at 5:00 p.m.
JV score: Estacado 52, Borger 25.

White Deer 50 West Texas High 39
On Tuesday evening, the West Texas High Lady Comanches started strong and had a 15-9 lead over White Deer after the first period.
However, White Deer came back in the second period to take a five point lead into halftime and never looked back, in their 50-39 win over the Lady Comanches.
Natalie Franklin led the Lady Comanches in scoring with 10 points, followed by Abby Summers with nine.
The Lady Comanches will next travel to Perryton next Tuesday, November 15th.

***The West Texas High vs Borger varsity and junior varsity girl’s basketball games for this Friday have been cancelled due to both teams having football playoff games that evening.
