PANHANDLE - Joe Cassidy of Panhandle, 81, died Monday, May 23, 2011, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Joe was born on Feb. 28, 1930, in Napavine, Wash., to Pat and Mildred Cassidy. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired scientist at the Pantex Plant. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Panhandle, past PTA president and taught Sunday School over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ann Cassidy, daughter Susan Cassidy, brother Bob Cassidy and parents, Pat and Mildred Cassidy.
Joe is survived by his wife Lei Shuang Cassidy of the home, two sons, John Cassidy of McKinney and Jay Cassidy of Prosper, six grandchildren – Cassie Daniel, Rachel, Andrew, Ryan, Hunter and Kaitlyn Cassidy and his nephew Mike Cassidy of Wenatchee, Wash.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
