Jerry L. Poston

Jerry L. Poston, 74, passed away Wednesday,
January 8, 2014 in Graham.
Funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, January 13,
2014 in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow
at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton
Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive
friends on Sunday at the funeral home from 4-6 pm. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Graham Crisis
Center or the Graham Community Food Bank.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marguerite M.
Poston and brother, Sonny Poston.
Jerry was born July 14, 1939 in Pampa, Texas to the late
Charles and Mary Poston. He served our country in the U.S.
Marine Corps and the U.S. Army serving in Korea and Okinawa before his discharge in 1964.
Following his honorable discharge, Jerry joined the Borger Police Department and served the
Borger community until his retirement as Chief of Police in 2003. In addition to serving the
Borger Police Department, Jerry also worked with the Red Bank Police in Red Bank, New Jersey
and several police departments including Dallas. Jerry received an AAS in Law Enforcement
from Frank Phillips College, and continued his education at Wayland Baptist University
and West Texas A & M University. In addition he had extensive specialized training in his
chosen field of law enforcement.
Survivors include his wife, Belinda Britain Poston of Graham; sons, Jerry L. Jr. and his
wife, Linore of Dallas, Michael and his wife, Carol of Amarillo; daughters, Keitha Thayer of
Stinnett, Kyla Cavazos of New York; grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon Poston of Amarillo,
Nicholas and Alexander Poston of Dallas, Kirsten and Britain Thayer of Graham; sisters,
Emma Poston, Gene Poston, and Bettie Harless.
