Jerry L. Poston, 74, passed away Wednesday,January 8, 2014 in Graham.Funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, January 13,2014 in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will followat Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receivefriends on Sunday at the funeral home from 4-6 pm. Inlieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Graham CrisisCenter or the Graham Community Food Bank.He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marguerite M.Poston and brother, Sonny Poston.Jerry was born July 14, 1939 in Pampa, Texas to the lateCharles and Mary Poston. He served our country in the U.S.Marine Corps and the U.S. Army serving in Korea and Okinawa before his discharge in 1964.Following his honorable discharge, Jerry joined the Borger Police Department and served theBorger community until his retirement as Chief of Police in 2003. In addition to serving theBorger Police Department, Jerry also worked with the Red Bank Police in Red Bank, New Jerseyand several police departments including Dallas. Jerry received an AAS in Law Enforcementfrom Frank Phillips College, and continued his education at Wayland Baptist Universityand West Texas A & M University. In addition he had extensive specialized training in hischosen field of law enforcement.Survivors include his wife, Belinda Britain Poston of Graham; sons, Jerry L. Jr. and hiswife, Linore of Dallas, Michael and his wife, Carol of Amarillo; daughters, Keitha Thayer ofStinnett, Kyla Cavazos of New York; grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon Poston of Amarillo,Nicholas and Alexander Poston of Dallas, Kirsten and Britain Thayer of Graham; sisters,Emma Poston, Gene Poston, and Bettie Harless.
