Jeannette Carlson Johnson

March 7, 2014

Jeannette Carlson Johnson enjoyed the finer things in life: books, art,

crossword puzzles, movies, and ice cream. She smiled brightly and laughed hard.

She had a sharp wit and was an expert in the art of conversation. She never met a

stranger and she treated everyone with respect and kindness. She did not like to lose

at Scrabble, but that did not happen often.

She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on 19 May 1926, the daughter of Alice and Al

Carlson. She had two siblings Bob and Roy.

She attended college at the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in Education.

There she met the love of her life, Robert A. “Bob” Johnson. They would be

married fifty-two years. They developed the kind of deep, loving companionship that

we all long for, but few are lucky enough to obtain. They laughed together. They held

hands together. They watched golf together. They traveled together.

Jeannette and Bob had five amazing children together: Julie, Terri, Nita, Marnie

and Roy. Those children led to grand-children: Justin, Mazie, Kate, Paul, Michael,

Elaine, Gabe, Andrea, Amanda, and another Amanda. Those grand-children led to

great-grandchildren, almost all of whom Jeannette was able to meet and love in person.

Jeannette has moved on now, to be with her love Bobbo. She lived her life with

grace and humor and she is deeply missed. She was a dedicated Catholic and a generous

volunteer at hospitals, St. Vincent de Paul in Santa Fe, Helping Hands in Borger,

and schools tutoring math and reading.

To know her is to love her. There will be a service in her memory at Cristo Rey

Santa Fe, New Mexico at 10 a.m. on Tuesday March 11. There also will be a Memorial

Mass at St. John’s Borger, Texas at 5p.m. Saturday March 22. Please join family

and friends in honoring the memory of this beautiful woman.
