On Thursday evening, an announcement was made during the Borger ISD School Board meeting that Jason Carter has been named as the Borger Lady Bulldogs Head Volleyball Coach.
Carter has spent several years coaching and teaching in the Borger school district, including serving as an assistant volleyball coach under Cara Adams and Michael Littlejohn.
This year, Carter started the fall semester working as an assistant coach for the Borger Cross Country team before stepping in and working with Ken Barbour to lead the Lady Bulldogs through district play and the playoffs after Littlejohn was put on administrative leave by the school district.
Carter is excited about getting the opportunity to lead the Lady Bulldog Volleyball program, saying, “It means a lot. I have had the distinct honor to be a part of this program and seeing it become very successful and more competitive. It has been great to watch these young athletes grow in confidence and ability. To a coach there is no greater feeling than making positive impacts on young people’s lives. I feel great about this opportunity and I am excited about the future.”
Carter inherits a talented young team which will graduate just four seniors from this year’s playoff squad.
Add a great group of players coming up from the junior varsity down through the middle school ranks, and the Lady Bulldogs should be a team capable of making runs at a district title and going a couple of rounds deep into the playoffs over the next several years.
Carter understands what the expectations will be for the program and expects to see the team have plenty of success, saying, “I bring high expectations and a belief that anything and everything is possible. I have a love for the game, knowledge of the sport, and a desire to see the program become even more successful. I am excited to have this great opportunity to lead and I cannot wait to see where we can go.”
