HAPPY – James Dietz, 82, died Jan. 8, 2013, in Amarillo, TX.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Happy with Rev. Daniel Dreher, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Umbarger and Holy Name Catholic Church of Happy, and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld of Nazareth, officiating. Rosary will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Happy’s Memorial Chapel.
Burial will be in Happy Cemetery in Happy, Texas. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.
James Dietz was born on November 19, 1930 in Electra, Texas to Gustav and Helena Jansen Dietz. He married Caroline Schulte on August 28, 1951 in Tulia. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2011. James was a farmer in Happy all of his life but was also a mail carrier in Happy, worked for the Texas Department of Corrections in Tulia, and worked at J&J Oil in Happy. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Happy, Holy Name Men’s Society, and a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three granddaughters, Jaci Barrett, Lena Waldenmayer, and Julie Barrett Weise, a grandson, Donny Waldenmayer, two sisters, Rita Fogarty and Louise Chisum, and four brothers, Philip Dietz, John Dietz, Sylvester Dietz, and Alfred Dietz.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Beebe and husband, Dennis, of Amarillo, Sharen Winters and husband, Gary, of Borger, Brenda Barrett and husband, Gary, of Canyon, and Debbie Waldenmayer, of Lubbock; two sons, Keith Dietz and wife, Lisa, of Canyon, and Stanley Dietz of Talihina, OK; one sister, Sister Rachel Dietz, of Ft. Smith, AR; one brother, Richard Dietz of Brownsville, TX; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial be to the Julie Barrett Weise Memorial, 2503 4th Avenue, Unit 60766, Canyon, TX 79015 or Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
