J. F. “Buck” Formby, 89, of Stinnett diedDecember 5th in Borger. Cremation is under the directionof Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Gravesideservices will be 10:00 am Thursday in Stinnett Cemeterywith the auspices of Unity Masonic Lodge 1242officiaing.Buck was born April 9, 1924 in Hopkins County, Texasthe piney woods of East Texas to William Roy and NoraBell Dean Formby. He served in the US Army duringWWII and settled in the Texas Panhandle after the War.He joined the Sea Bees during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Phillips PetroleumCompany for 41 years. He married Phyllis Baker November 17, 1949 in Borger. Theywere married for 64 years. He served as mayor of Stinnett for seven years. He served asFire Chief of Stinnett for ten years and served on the city council board for 3 years. Hewas on the Board of Trustees of T.P.M.H. and MR in Amarillo, Texas for several years.He was a mason.Buck was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.He is survived by his Wife Phyllis. Son Bill Formby of Buna Vista, Texas. DaughterToni Formby of Dallas, Texas. Sister Mary Formby Waddle of Lewisville, Texas andseveral nieces and nephews.
