Last night HutchCares held its appreciation banquet for all its volunteers.
The banquet was held at Fairlanes Baptist Church, with a meal, live entertainment, and a silent auction as part of the festivities.
HutchCares is a local organization that helps senior citizens 65 years of age and over stay in their home and live safely and independently for as long as possible. Hutch Cares believes in helping people stay out of expensive facilities and allowing older people to stay at home and have the right to receive appropriate assistance as needed from their family and neighbors.
Services that are provided are ramps and railing, correspondence, reading, home maintenance, friendly visits, transportation, shopping, telephone reassuring, and mail management. HutchCares operates under the principle on Neighbors helping neighbors, making sure caring, consent, and mutual respect are the basis for all relationships.
Throughout the night there was live entertainment provided by the trio Manna, which is composed of Becky Green, Sarah Gabaladon, and Myndie Burke. Also providing entertainment was Jody Wilson who played some piano selections.
The silent auction was held as a fund raiser for the organization that consisted of items such as cakes, gift certificates, gift cards, clothing home décor, and many other hand made items. The live auction was led by Ted Wilson .
There were also door prizes that were given away, with every one having the chance to sign up and win.
Mildred Hoff, who has been aided by the organization, said that HutchCares is just full of “wonderful people. They took me back and forth to Amarillo for my 37 radiation treatments. Sometimes they drove me and sometimes they drove my car.”
HutchCares is always looking for individuals who are willing to make phone calls, personal visits, and offer help with lawn care or home repair. Its goal is to provide service and companionship to senior citizens and help them stay in their homes for as longs as possible. For more information, call 677-1708.
