Howdy Neighbor Day set for Oct. 6

September 7, 2012

The Tri-City Youth Football organization showed its support during last year’s Howdy Neighbor Day festivities in Fritch. This year’s festivities are set for Saturday, Oct. 6, and the public is invited to get involved and attend.

Howdy Neighbor Day in Fritch is set for Oct. 6!
The event is being hosted by the Fritch Chamber of Commerce, with a fall festival theme in place. Vicki Wilson, president of the chamber, said the parade will start sharply at 10 a.m. down Hoyne Street and travel down Broadway to the city park.
“Floats will be judged on creativity, originality, and theme,” she said. “Float entries will have a chance to win three cash prizes ranging from $50 to $100. We also invite bicycles, bands, classic cars and trucks, tractors, four-wheelers, and more to participate in the parade.”
Following the parade is a festival in the city park. Wilson said vendors will line the park with tons of fresh food and drinks for sale. Different businesses and civic groups will be in the park throughout the afternoon selling novelty items and homemade crafts. She said everyone is invited to participate.
Booth space is still available for 10x10 for $20, 20x20 for $40, and larger space for $60. Electricity is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Booths are encouraged to set up the night before at the park from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The park will close at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012. Security will be in the park all evening. The park will open the day of Howdy Neighbor Day at 7:30 a.m.
Wilson said the chamber asks all vendors set up no later than 9:30 a.m. Chamber members will be at the park on both Friday and Saturday to help vendors locate their booth locations. Vendors can look for them at the pavilion on the north side of the park.
All vendors are responsible for their own set-up and cleanup. All vendors are welcome, but a few rules do apply to everyone.
•No fake cigarettes or cigars will be permitted.
•No sling shots, no potato guns, or anything that shoots a projectile will be allowed.
•No disorderly conduct will be tolerated.
•There will be no four wheelers allowed inside the park during Howdy Neighbor Day.
•Neither the Fritch Chamber of Commerce nor the City of Fritch will assume any responsibility for accidents that may occur at any time in connection with the Howdy Neighbor Day festivities.

Local entertainment will fill the park during the day. Popular Fritch singers Mike Collins and Karla Burgin will MC, and Fritch’s own Miss Texas Panhandle Christa Newman will also provide entertainment. All local entertainers are invited to participate.

Local residents are encouraged to come spend the day in Fritch, enjoy the parade, eat some good food, bring their lawn chairs to listen to some awesome music, and say a big “Howdy Neighbor” with Fritch citizens this year.
