With a deadline set for demolition of the old hospital building, workers are busily doing all they can to meet that deadline.
At the regular meeting of the Hutchinson County Hospital District Board of Directors on Monday evening, Golden Plains Community Hospital CEO Dennis Jack said a deadline of April 15 has been set to finish the demolition process.
“It’s supposed to be done. I don’t think that’s going to happen, but they have got a lot more trucks there this week and are starting to rip it out, so we’ll see,” he said.
Jack said they have to take the interior walls of the basement out. He said they thought the walls could just be covered, but they have found out this is not the case.
HCHD board member Jesse Shuffield said he had the opportunity to visit with the Hutchinson County Commissioners at their March 9 meeting, and the commissioners wanted to let the board know they appreciate the board’s efforts in getting the old hospital torn down.
