Honors keep on coming for local athletes

Local area student continue to enjoy the fruits of their success in the athletic field and classroom by earning various awards for what they have done this school year.
Fresh off winning the 3A State Mixed-Doubles title with his sister Abbie in Austin last week, Borger High School senior Josh Madden was named to the 3A All-State Academic Tennis Team. J.Madden will graduate as salutatorian from Borger High School.
Wednesday morning, Borger High School junior Abbie Madden was announced as Female Athlete of the Year in Tennis by the Amarillo Globe News.
Abbie and Josh earned the first ever state title in the Borger tennis program as well as posting a 38-1 record for the season.
Fresh off her 3A State Title in the discus and second place finish at state in the shot put, Borger High School senior J’Cee Pool was named as Co-Female Athlete of the Year in Track by the Amarillo Globe News on Wednesday morning.
Pool has also been selected by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce as April Athlete of the Month in Track and Field.
West Texas High School senior Logan Hoff was named as one of the Scholar Athletes of the Year on Tuesday by the Amarillo Globe News.
While playing quarterback on the football team and guiding the Comanches to a playoff berth, starting in basketball, helping the baseball team to the playoffs as the shortstop and qualifying for the regional track meet, Hoff earned a 97.1 grade-point average.
