High Plains Helping Hand gets a special visit!

June 6, 2012

The High Plains Food Bank food truck made a stop in Borger two weeks ago.
Amarillo’s High Plains Food Bank, a non-profit organization that collects and distributes donated surplus food to agencies in the Texas Panhandle, delivered a lot of “freebies” and food to High Plains Helping Hand of Borger. These are items donated from area grocers such as fruits and vegetables, milk and eggs, breads and sweets and other items.
Helping Hand keeps some of the food to give out to clients who qualify for food every three months, but the majority of the “freebies” are perishable, and Helping Hand does not have space to store very much, so the “freebies” are set out for the public, and everyone is welcome to come and get some. For more information, call 274-2381.
