Helton takes third at College National Finals Rodeo

This past weekend, Frank Phillips College sophomore Logan Helton earned a third place finish in bull riding at the 2011 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.
Helton, a Pampa native studying agriculture business at FPC, placed third in the nation behind Cody Teel of Sam Houston State University and Doug Vowkaw of Hill College.
Aboard the bull Cassius Clay, Helton split fourth and fifth place with a 77 in round two, then came back and won the short go-round with the highest mark of the week, scoring an 84 aboard Ty Rinaldo’s bull, Freaking Wild.
Helton qualified for the CNFR by placing third in the Southwest Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.
Helton is the son of Jenny Helton Gillispie of Amarillo and Wade Helton of Pampa.
