Help your local Rotary Club and the CDC celebrate World Polio Day Oct. 24

In 1980, Rotary vowed to eradicate the polio virus through global immunization. Since 1988, the disease has been eradicated in more than 120 countries. Rotary has worked with organizations like WHO, UNICEF, the CDC, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support the eradication effort. Rotarians around the world have raised more than $1.6 billion towards the effort.

Just 74 cases of the disease occurred globally in 2015 and only about a quarter as many during the first seven months of 2016. Has polio impacted members of your extended family? Do you remember friends who contracted polio as a child? We'd like to hear from our readers.
