All across Hutchinson County, there are fund raisers going on to help cancer survivors and those who are suffering from it.
Two are on behalf of Relay for Life, and one is on the behalf of a young teen suffering from cancer.
The St. Andrew United Methodist Church “Heavenly” Cookies Team for the 2011 Relay for life will be holding a fundraiser called “Bowl-A-Rama.” This will start at 1pm and will last till 5pm on Sunday, May 22 at Wildcatter’s, 1501 South Main.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the Relay For Life of Hutchinson County. For more information of this event contact Linda Garrett at 857-9011 or 206-0524.
Also holding a fundraiser is Team Maurices. What they will be doing is holding a Pre-relay fundraiser where they will be selling “hope” bracelets in the form of a silver chain ID bracelet with the word hope. Bracelets are $5 a piece with $2.50 of it going to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Maurices is located at 1416 West Wilson in Borger. These bracelets will only be available through July 31, 2011, while supplies last.
Local couple Jeremy and Jennifer Holt are hosting a Scentsy Wickless Candles Fundraiser for Chelsea Brantwein. Chelsea is 14 years old and was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. Chelsea is the daughter of Tami Brantwein and Bobby Brantwein.100% of the commission from the sales will go toward Chelsea’s medical expenses. You may order by calling Jen-
nifer at (806) 274-7489. The fundraiser will end on May 23rd. Lastly the biggest event happening the Hutchinson county this year to help cancer survivors and also to remember those whom lost the fight to cancer, The relay for life. Cathy Phillips co-chair man for last years relay for life stated that last years the fundraiser brought in “$35,575.16 and we hope to bring in twice as much this year.” The proceeds were all donated to the American Cancer Society. Relay For Life of Hutchinson County will be held from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at Huber Park in Borger.
