Helen Wrighton Klapper
Helen Wrighton Klapper passed away on March 5, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Assisted Living residence in Estes Park, Colorado where she has been living for the past four years.
Helen was born March 26, 1921 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Fred and Annie Bull. She grew up on her parent’s dairy farm and attended school in Aberdeen through graduation from high School.
After high school Helen attended a business college and developed her skills as a secretary. She then worked for a couple of businesses in Aberdeen before going to work for the Department of Agriculture in New York, Washington D.C. and Denver. While in Denver she met Dick Klapper and they were married May 10, 1946 in Denver. They moved to Borger, Texas.
Although she lost Dick in 1975, Helen continued to live in Borger until July 2009 when she moved to Estes Park, Colorado to the Good Samaritan Assisted Living facility. She lived there until her death.
Helen enjoyed traveling, writing letters and telling stories. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Borger for over 60 years.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Alfred Bull, and her husband. She is survived by two sons; Richard and Linda Klapper of Alvin, Texas, Fred and Pam Klapper of Spartanburg, South Carolina and one grandson, Andrew Klapper of Spartanburg.
Helen will be buried next to her husband in Coleman City Cemetery in Coleman, Texas on Tuesday, March 11 at one p.m. where a brief graveside service will be held.
