HCRW to host special speaker at upcoming meeting

As the Hutchinson County Republican Women prepare to install officers for another year, they will also be welcoming a special speaker at their upcoming meeting.
Brigadier General L. Dale Hoover, Jr. will be the featured speaker at the HCRW Republican Rally and Installation of Officers, set for Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Dake’s Restaurant, located at 718 North Main in Borger.
A Meet and Greet will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.
Hoover was born in Decatur and was raised in Chickasha, Okla. He received his Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Okla. and his Ph.D. in general philosophy from the American Institute of Theology in Ohio. He also attended U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and U.S. Army Industrial College.
His highest enlisted rank was Sergeant First Class and his highest officer rank was Brigadier General, Retired SGUS.
Hoover served in the artillery, infantry, military intelligence, and special forces.
He is retired from the United States Army, where he served as a soldier in the Airborne Special Forces. He served in Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Central America, South America, and Panama.
Awards Hoover has received are the Bronze Star, Korea w/two battle stars, Achieve Med, Good Conduct (For Enlisted Only), Commendation Medal, American Defense, Jap Occu, Vietnam, CIB, Prcht Mstr and Special Forces Tab, and an assorted 24 campaign ribbons.
He served in the 45th Infantry Division, 1st Calvary Division, 9th Special Forces Group Airborne, 12th SFGA, 5th SFGA, the Special Welfare Center, 95th TMG CMD, 2nd Armored Division, 4th Army, 8th Corp, and 3rd Corp.
He served as a Special Forces “A” Detachment Commander, a Special Forces “B” Detachment Commander, a Special Assignment Commondant, and a Post Commandant.
Hoover currently serves as a field representative at the West Point Military Academy and as a U.S. Army retired volunteer.
