A groundbreaking for the new location of Happy State Bank was held Thursday afternoon.
Mike Amos, president of the Borger market, and J. Pat Hickman, Chairman and CEO of Happy State Bank, made the announcement of the new location, which will be at 1431 West Wilson.
Wiley Hicks Jr. Construction Inc. is the general contractor for the new building. The architecture was designed by D. Scott Stark Architect and is consistent with other Happy State Bank offices.
It will be a full-service banking center offering four drive-up lanes as well as a drive-up 24-hour ATM and a community meeting room, “The Texas Room,” which will be available for customer use.
The building should be completed by the third quarter of 2013.
Amos said he is excited about this new office being built in Borger.
“The location is ideal for convenient banking for our customers,” he said. “We are proud to be a part of new development and growth in the City of Borger.”
The $1.8 billion Happy State Bank, which is celebrating 104 years in operation, has 29 full-service offices and 87 ATMs in 20 communities in the Texas panhandle, which include Happy, Amarillo, Borger, Canadian, Canyon, Dalhart, Dumas, Floydada, Hereford, Lockney, Lubbock, Higgins, Olton, Pampa, Panhandle, Plainview, Silverton, Stratford, Sunray, and Texline.
Happy State Bank also owns a non-depository branch, Gold Star Trust Company, which is headquartered in Canyon.
