Chris Hackett begins his first year as head menâ€™s basketball coach at Frank Phillips College. He comes to FPC after spending the last five years as the top assistant at NCAA program, Florida Tech. During his time there, the Panthers produced one of the best turnarounds in school history, including the first 20 - win season in over a decade, a school record 11-0 start and being ranked as high as #11 in the nation. They also recorded six wins over top-25 teams.
Coach Hackett has coached three All-Freshman players, the 2009 Freshman of the Year, eight All-Conference players, four All-Region players, the 2011 Region Player of the Year and the schoolâ€™s first All-American in twenty years. In 2007, he was named as one of the top ten assistant coaches in the country by Rivals.com.
Prior to arriving at Florida Tech he spent two years as an assistant coach at Neosho County Community College in Kansas, and in 2003 he was the head boyâ€™s basketball coach at Sarcoxie High School in Missouri.
A native of Sheffield, England, Coach Hackett attended Sheffield College for three years, leading them to a National Championship in 1999, before playing one year at Allen County Community College, (Kansas) to finish his collegiate career. He also played club basketball in England for eight years and has competed in international tournaments in France and Greece. More recently, he has spoken at clinics and directed several basketball camps in Europe, including the Folgaria Basketball Camp in Italy, where the coaching staff included the legendary Rollie Massimino and the NBAâ€™s Mike Fratello. Hackett has also had coaching articles published by basketball journals in both Europe and the United States.
Coach Hackett holds a Bachelorâ€™s degree in Physical Education from Missouri Southern State University and a Masterâ€™s degree in the same field from Pittsburg State University (Kansas).View more articles in:
