GPCH CEO reflects on hospital completion

October 24, 2011

Dennis Jack CEO, Golden Plains Community Hospital

With the new Golden Plains Community Hospital finally completed and about to open its doors, the hospital’s CEO took time to reflect on the opening of the new facility.
Dennis Jack said he feels like a proud but exhausted father that has just helped deliver the biggest baby on record.
“If I had the energy I would say I am going on vacation to Disney World, but that sounds like too much walking,” he said. “I think I will just work from my desk as soon as I get all the boxes unpacked.”
He said one of the things people who see the new hospital will comment on is how big it looks.
“Our current building is more than 30,000 feet bigger, but being on three floors you just don’t notice it,” Jack said. “So another thing they will notice is no elevators!”
He said he hopes patients and the public notice the much bigger rooms, with large bathrooms, all with either a tub or a shower.
“We hope they notice the large OR suites and how much more modern and designed to be as clean as possible,” Jack said. “We hope they notice the new diagnostic equipment, the 64 slice Toshiba CT, and the new X-Ray room and full tilt table. We hope they notice our ER has six rooms, 50 percent more than we do today.”
To get to the new hospital, turn onto Roosevelt Street and turn uphill just west past Frank Phillips College.
