Looking for a unique Christmas gift this year? The Texas General Land Office is offering historic map reproductions for sale. Over 45,000 different maps are available. They make fantastic gifts for friends and family members who proudly celebrate their Texas heritage.

Since taking office, I have reminded people across the state that Texas is not just a place on a map. It's an idea in the hearts of our people based on a unique history that sets Texans apart," said Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush. "Having said this, the State of Texas maintains many historic maps, thousands of maps in fact, many of which are housed in the Archives and Records of the General Land Office."

The proceeds from map sales supports the historic preservation of important documents, archives and maps. To search for maps and place orders visit www.savetexashistory.org or call the Land Office at (800) 998-4456. Online and phone orders must be placed before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21 to be delivered by Christmas Day.
