Give blood, honor a hero

June 22, 2012

Local citizens have the opportunity to give blood this July and honor their favorite local hero at the same time.
The Coffee Memorial Blood Center will be hosting the Borger Wal-Mart Blood Drive from 2-6:30 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012. A bloodmobile will be onsite at Wal-Mart, 1414 West Wilson.
All eligible donors who present to donate will receive a free Boots vs. Badges T-Shirt. While on site, donors can vote for their favorite local hero, either law enforcement or fire officials.
Those wishing to donate need to have a photo ID or donor card on hand, and must be at least 17 years old to donate. Walk-ins are welcome.
For appointments, please call 331-8800 or 1-877-574-8800. The center can be found on Facebook, followed on Twitter, or found at its web site at www.thegiftoflife.org.
Suzanne Talley of the CMBC said all blood types are currently needed.
“The need is real. There is no substitute for blood,” she said. “It can only come from volunteer blood donors. Please support the patients of the High Plains Region...Give the Gift of Life!”
