Genta Allene Markee

ATHENS - Genta Allene Markee, 99, died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Green Oaks Nursing Home in Athens, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Rev. Earl Burkholder, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Genta was born on Jan. 19, 1912, in Tyro, Kansas. She married Clyde Markee on Dec. 12, 1937, in Coffeeville, Kan., and he preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her sister Alta Fuller, brother Clyde Herring, and daughter-in-law Mary Helen (Mangan) Markee. She was a homemaker and former member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Genta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two sons, John Markee and wife Betty of Athens, and Mark Markee and wife Diane of Memphis, Tenn., brother Carl Herring of Prairie Village, Kan., four grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.
