Gaenell Brawley, 88, of Stinnett, passed from this life into the next on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at BSA Hospice in Amarillo, TX.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 â€“ 8:00 pm on Friday, June 22nd at Brown Funeral Directors located at 206 West First Street in Borger, TX.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, June 23rd at Stinnett Cemetery with Mrs. Connie Freriks officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Alan Jones, Mark Jones, Greg Jones, Nathan Graves, Aron Graves, Doug Brown and Cade Brawley.
Mr. Brawley was born Sunday, June 15, 1924 in Greer County, OK to George Franklin and Nora Mae (Kerbo) Brawley. He proudly serviced his country in World War II. He married Onna M. McElroy on July 27, 1942 in Duke, OK.
Mr. Brawley retired from the petroleum industry after a 45 year career as a self-employed contract pumper and oil & gas owner/operator. He was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church of Amarillo at the time of his death.
Gaenell is survived by his wife of 69 years and 10 months, Onna; three daughters, Carol Brown and husband Kenneth of Friendswood, TX, Jeannie Jones and husband Gary of Frisco, TX and Susie Graves and husband Mark of Stinnett, TX; a son, Danny Brawley and wife Kim of Borger, TX; a sister, Georgia Mae Watts and husband Lester of Amarillo, TX; eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Norris Ray Brawley and two sisters; Joyce Brawley and Sue Hays.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to Alice Gutierrez of Amarillo for the home health care she provided.
The family will be staying at 5500 W. 9th Ave., Apt 309, Amarillo, TX 79106 and 212 Loma Linda Ln, Borger, TX 79007.
