Fund set up in Rodriguez’s memory

August 15, 2011

A special fund has been set up in memory of Tomas Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, 18, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2011, during an outing to Lake Mackenzie in Briscoe County. About to enter his senior year at Borger High School, Rodriguez worked in produce at United Supermarkets in Borger.
Jennifer Hoeltzel, Assistant Produce Manager at United in Borger, said she worked closely with Rodriguez.
“He was an incredible young man that is dearly missed by all who knew him,” she said.
Hoeltzel said she has been in close contact with his family through the past couple of weeks. While the family has received help, she said they still need financial help to cover costs of his funeral and headstone.
“I have been raising money up here at United and have seen the generosity of my fellow team members,” she said. “I know that our community would graciously step in and help if they were given the chance.”
United will be accepting donations to give to the Rodriguez family to help with these costs. Hoeltzel said that anything the people of the community would like to contribute is greatly appreciated.
A memorial account has been set up at Happy State Bank. If people would like to donate, they can do so at any branch and deposit in the Tomas Rodriguez memorial fund, c/o Jennifer Hoeltzel.
For more information, contact Hoeltzel at United Supermarkets to donate. Any questions can be directed to her at 806-382-7129.
