ODESSA-On Friday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen (8-20) and the Odessa College Lady Wranglers combined for 57 runs in their WJCAC doubleheader in Odessa.
The Lady Plainsmen came away as the 18-15 winner in a crazy nine inning contest in game one, while the Lady Wranglers took came two, 14-10.
In game one, the Lady Plainsmen put themselves in a hole early by trailing 0-6 after the second inning. But the Lady Plainsmen did a good job chipping away at the lead until they were able to tie the game after the fifth inning, 6-6.
The two teams went back and forth until the ninth inning, where the Lady Plainsmen scored six runs to build a 18-12. The Wranglers tried to rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, but only managed to put three runs on the scoreboard.
Madilyne Logan had the big bad in game one, racking up four RBIs on four hits for Frank Phillips College. Logan doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second, fifth, and sixth innings.
Arleen Alamanza had three RBIs.
In game two, a little deja vu took place with the Lady Wranglers building a 1-6 lead after the third inning. The Lady Plainsmen rallied once again by scoring seven runs in the fourth inning. But the Lady Wranglers responded by scoring six runs of their own in the fourth inning to pull away for the win.
The Lady Plainsmen continued play in the Permian Basin area on Saturday taking on Midland College in WJCAC play.
