Frank Phillips College hosting New Mexico JC in doubleheader

Tonight the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen will host the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds and Lady Thunderbirds in a WJCAC doubleheader at the BCAC.
The women’s game will tip off at 5:45 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
Over the past five years, the Plainsmen vs T-Birds matchup has provided some of the most entertaining WJCAC games of the season, with the Plainsmen winning both games in conference play in 2009-10 and the T-Birds winning both games last season.
The Plainsmen enter tonight with some momentum after getting their first conference win of the season on Thursday, defeating NMMI by one point in Roswell. N.M.
In the win, the Plainsmen trio of Taquan McDew, Earl Hill, and Ronald Scott combined for 43 of the Plainsmen points. Hill also had a good night on the boards by grabbing 12 rebounds.
The T-Birds started conference play with wins over NMMI and Midland College, but lost both games last week to top 10 teams #8 Odessa College and #1 South Plains College.
The T-Birds go-to-guys this season are guard Desmond Lee and forward Dequan Hicks, with both players averaging over 12 points her game.
On the women’s side, the Lady Plainsmen will enter tonight coming off a good 76-64 win over Clarendon College on Thursday evening in Clarendon.
Tonight the Lady Plainsmen will try to give the the Lady T-Birds their first conference losS of the season. The Lady T-Birds have been the surprise team in the WJCAC this year, currently holding a 19-2 record.
