An Amarillo company is in the process of purchasing Frank’s Floor Covering.
Witt Flooring is planning to move into the location within the next month, according to the company’s general manager, Pat Callahan.
Callahan said it will be about a 30-day span until Witt Flooring officially takes over the building.
Witt Flooring Center will provide Borger with a wide choice of carpet, hardwood, laminate flooring, ceramic tile and natural stone products. The center will have more in-stock items as well as tools and materials for self installation, but they also offer full service installation.
Scotty C. Witt became involved in the construction business with his dad when he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948. Scotty then served two years in the Army after graduating from Abilene Christian University in 1952. Upon his return from service, Scotty assumed more duties as the family owned business became a full service residential and commercial floor covering establishment.
For over 60 years, Witt Flooring Center and Abbey Carpet & Floor of Amarillo continues to serve friends, customers and contractors with quality products and installation services.
“We are really excited about the opportunity. Even though the economy is having a tough time, we can still expand and grow and that says a lot,” said Callahan.
He also states that there will be few changes to the current building, but details are still up in the air.
According to Susan Combs, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Frank’s Floor Covering, LLC, 806 N. Main Street, started February 17, 2005. Frank’s Floor Covering, LLC also began a partnership with Mohawk as an exclusive Mohawk ColorCenter Elite Dealer. Owners of Frank’s Floor Covering include Frank and Amy Fernandez. Frank’s Floor Covering is also joined together with Tan Palace.
According to Hutchinson County Appraisal District, Frank’s market value is worth a total of $205,080. Tan Palace’s market value is $27,370.

Number(1): The IRS has not even leveled the fines on this business yet, and its owners. The fines should be somewhere between 3.5 Million to 25 Million dollars. Number(2): You see the sign on the building says;" Closed for remodeling"...should say; "See you in 1 to 8 years gone to prison for being a dumb drug dealer in Borger, Texas." Number(3): The sentences of 1 year, and 8 years is a long time when you owe Cartel people money you lost. A lot can happen in prison in 1year to 8 years, especially if you are a smart mouth person. Number(4) I would bet this is far from over, more like the very beginning, and more people will be going to jail in the near future.

I wonder if Witt's is going to buy all of the inventory (just the carpet and flooring) that was carried off last week.

Pure speculation

The details of the deal were not made public. We do not know for sure what role the comptroller had in the sale. But if that information were available for publication it would be interesting to know. I would hope that the editor realizes that pulling punches when it comes to the Fernandez clan is no longer necessary.

Frank's was worth $205,000 but grossed millions. Wonder what kind of ROI Witt is expecting.

where did you get that out of the above artical? it was simply stating a public fact about the value of the property?!

I am wondering the same thing, because no where in this article does it say the state comptroller is forcing the sale. All that is see is the value of the property being stated by them. Maybe I missed something here.

They sold stuff!!

I don't doubt that they sold what they could before the comptroller got there...and probably cash only sale...
