On November 4th and 5th the NJCAA Region V West Volleyball Tournament will take place in Clarendon and three of the four tournament spots are already claimed by Midland College, Western Texas College and NMMI.
Tonight at the BCAC, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen can take a big step in securing that fourth tournament spot if they can get the win over the Odessa College Lady Wranglers.
The Lady Plainsmen enter tonight coming off an impressive five game win over Western Texas College on Saturday to improve their conference record to 3-5. Entering tonight, the Lady Plainsmen have just two conference matches left and hold a one match lead over Odessa College and a two match lead over Clarendon College for the fourth tournament spot.
On Saturday, the Lady Plainsmen will travel to play Clarendon College. So if the Lady Plainsmen can take care of business tonight and this weekend then the Lady Plainsmen can carry some good momentum into the regional tournament.
In their first year competing in the WJCAC, the Lady Wranglers haVE endured an up and down season that includes a 2-6 conference record.
However, one of those conference wins was over the Lady Plainsmen in a hard fought five game match in Odessa back on October 5th.
A win over the Lady Plainsmen would give Odessa the season sweep over the Lady Plainsmen, which could prove to be a tiebreaker if the two teams end conference play with identical records.
Tonight’s match between Odessa College and Frank Phillips College is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 p.m. in the BCAC.
