FPC Plainsmen complete sweep of NMMI

March 28, 2011

After winning the first two in the series on Friday with the NMMI Broncos, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen were able to complete the sweep on Saturday afternoon by taking game three in the series, 6-5 and game four, 13-8.
In game one, freshman Regan Calvert of Plano would get the win on the mound for the Plainsmen.
In game two, the Plainsmen found themselves down 5-7 in the eighth inning.
The Plainsmen would have a huge inning in scoring eight runs with freshman Alex Scanlan getting a squeeze bunt down to tie the game up with the team exploding at the plate by batting around the order.
Plainsmen Head Coach Jason Gaston was pleased with his team’s effort this weekend saying, “I am really excited for my guys and pretty happy with how they played. We had a few struggles defensively but found ways to get it done in the end. Getting four wins in a conference weekend is hard to come by but definitely needed.”
Emmanuel Matos was key for the win in the game for the Plainsmen
The Plainsmen improve to 12-11 overall and to 7-5 in WJCAC play.
After a road doubleheader with Lamar in Colorado tomorrow, the Plainsmen will host El Paso CC in a four game conference series starting on Friday at noon.
