While the 2012 season is in full swing, Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen Head Softball Coach Lucas Grider has been busy preparing for the future with the signing of four players for the 2012-13 season.
Two of the players signed by Grider come from the Houston area, while the other two players will come to Borger from Canada and England.
The first signee of the 2012-13 class is shortstop/outfielder Ashley Giboney from Crosby High School. Of Giboney, Grider said, “Giboney is a very athletic young lady who will provide us several options defensively, and offensively she has picked up her game this year. We look for Ashley to add potential depth to both our infield and outfield.”
The second signee for the Lady Plainsmen is pitcher/infielder Michaela Bram from Louise High School. According to Grider, Bram is a pitcher who has good control and spins the ball well and will add depth to the Lady Plainsmen pitching staff.
The third player signed by the Lady Plainsmen is London, England outfielder Susana Hall. On the signing of Hall, Grider said, “We are excited with the signing of Susie to start a relationship with Great Britain softball. Susie has a lot of raw talent and is fundamentally sound.”
The fourth player joining the Lady Plainsmen is outfielder Emily Newman from Victoria, British Columbia.
On Monday, Newman was on the FPC campus to sign her letter of intent, with Grider describing her as “a talented player from a quality program who should fit in well with the program we are working hard to build.”
Newman will graduate from Lambrick Park which is the same school to produce current Lady Plainsmen player Janelle Smith and former FPC players Amy Acheson, Kristi Michaud, and Kate Johnson.
