On Thursday evening, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen defeated Clarendon College 76-64 in Clarendon.
FPC took control of the game early by building a 44-35 by halftime.
Late in the game, Clarendon took a 61-60 lead, but FPC went on a 6-0 run to go up 66-61 with 4:56 left.
Clarendon hit a three to cut it to 66-64, but the Lady Plainsmen sank two free throws with 1:59 left to go up 68-64. The Lady Plainsmen finished the game a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line to arrive at the final score.
Kinjita Kelley led the team with 21 followed by La’Christa Nash 10; Jade Horhn 9; Laura Martinez 9; Amira Sallie 8; Shay O’Neal 8; Nancy Castillo 7; and Destiny Phillips 4.
FPC went 20-for-27 from the free throw line and Nash and Kelley combined for 17-for-19 on the night.
Alex Stice led Clarendon with 12 points, all in the first half.
The win improves the Lady Plainsmen to 6-13 overall.
FPC returns to the court Monday night hosting New Mexico Junior College in WJCAC play beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the BCAC.
