Fourth of July an uneventful one for county

No grass fires reported, Richards grateful for community cooperation on fireworks ban Danny Richards, Hutchinson County Fire Marshal

The Fourth of July holiday was an uneventful one in Hutchinson County.
According to Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards, Monday was the first day in awhile that there has not been a grass fire in the area.
On Saturday evening, Hutchinson County received about a quarter to a half inch of rainfall.
The rain helped tremendously, Richards said.
Although the disaster declaration banning the sale and use of fireworks expired on Tuesday morning, Hutchinson County is still under a burn ban.
There will be no tolerance of violations on the ban, and violators can receive a fine and jail time if caught doing so.
“Overall we are very pleased with the outcome of the Fourth of July weekend. The citizens were very cooperative, and I hope they will remain that way through the very dry summer ahead,” Richards said.
