Adriana Lisa Perez, 31, of Pampa, is being held at Gray County Jail and is under investigation for capital murder for the slaying of Leslie Heredia Perez, 23, of Shamrock, formerly of Borger, who was found dead in her home Monday evening.

According to Sr. Trooper Daniel Hawthorne of the Texas Department of Public Safety, authorities received an emergency call about an injured person at 7:28 p.m. Monday. When authories arrived, they found Heredia Perez deceased and they became aware that her 2-week old daughter, Abcde Perez, was missing.

A neighbor was able to provide a description of a suspicious vehicle to investigators who issued a ‘be on the lookout’ alert for the suspect. At 8:30 p.m. a Gray County Deputy Sheriff recognized the vehicle en route to Pampa.

According to Hawthorne, Adriana Perez was arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants and taken into custody. Adriana Perez had possession of the daughter, and authorities secured the baby, who was unharmed, Hawthorne stated.

Hawthorne said that it was unclear whether or not the alleged assailant and the victim were related.
The Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office has asked the Texas Rangers to investigate the incident, Hawthorne Said.
