First Nazarene Church of Borger to offer free sports camp

May 18, 2012

The First Nazarene Church of Borger is planning to offer a free mega sports camp this summer, titled “Beyond the Gold,” to help kids 5-12 years old to learn more about sports.
First Nazarene Church Pastor Terry Porter said, “We want to give kids a chance to learn more about sports, discover character building concepts and have a whole lot of fun, all for free.”
Former Borger Bulldog player and Claude Head Baseball Coach Matt Green will be the camp’s Baseball Head Coach and Borger Bulldog Cheerleader Southern Shira will be the camp’s Cheerleading Coach.
Kids will be able to choose between baseball, basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading. It doesn’t matter if they have played all their life or just started yesterday. The mega sports camp will help kids improve their skills.
The camp will use all sorts of drills and practice games to get kids focused on the fundamentals that make athletes great. Plus, the mega sports camp will provide a positive and encouraging environment that pumps up their confidence and self-esteem.
Between sports sessions, coaches will lead songs, tell stories, and do cool object lessons that help character-building themes take hold in kids’ hearts. Most importantly, kids will discover God’s great love for them.
The mega sports camp will run Tuesday, May 29th through Friday, June 1st from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. that Friday.
Parents can register their kids for this event at the First Nazarene Church of Borger, located at 501 Kaye Avenue.
