The fireworks have come and gone

July 5, 2012

Now that all the fireworks have been popped, what was the damage in between?
According to Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards, the trouble spots on Independence Day were Highway 136, Fritch, and Borger, creating 23 fires total. The largest fire was on Highway 136 near the Westlawn Cemetery, damaging around 20 acres.
“Luckily there were no reports of injuries and there was no structure damage,” said Richards.
All fire departments, including Stinnett, Fritch, Borger, Hutchinson County, and Park Service had trucks staged in close proximity at the Highway 136 gathering to make sure fires were put out quick and efficiently to ensure the safety of citizens enjoying their Fourth of July.
“All fire departments were really proud,” said Richards.
