On Tuesday evening, the Dalhart Lady Wolves used a fast start to get the 68-38 over the Borger Lady Bulldogs in District 1-3A action at Tex Hanna Gym.
The Lady Bulldogs struggled offensively in the first period by going 1/10 from the floor and not getting on the scoreboard until Vanessa Jones hit two free throws at the 2:45 mark.
Unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for Dalhart, as the the Lady Wolves used fast break opportunities and two three pointers to build a 5-21 lead by the end of the first period.
The Wolves started the second period staying hot by scoring the period’s first 12 points before McKenzie Loftis put in a jumper to end the run.
Towards the end of the second and into the third periods, the Lady Bulldogs were able to get some good things going offensively with Emma Wood, Holly Jones, Tiffanie Prater, and Loftis putting points on the scoreboard.
However, the deficit built early in the game would prove to be one the Lady Bulldogs could not overcome.
The loss drops Borger to 0-5 in district play and 4-19 overall, while Dalhart improves to 3-2 and 16-9 overall.
The Lady Bulldogs will next travel north on Friday to take on the Perryton Rangerettes beginning at 6:00 p.m.
