On Tuesday afternoon, two errors in the top of the seventh inning allowed the Bushland Falcons to leave Huber Park with the 3-2 win over the Borger Bulldogs in non-district action.
The game featured a great pitcher’s duel between Borger senior Chayse Tracy and Bushland’s Blaine Barnett who combined to give up just eight hits with both throwing all seven innings.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning, when two Bulldog errors set up Gerald Reyna for a two RBI single to give Bushland a 0-2 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Bulldogs responded with Max Lusk hitting a two RBI double to center field to tie the game 2-2.
In the top of the seventh inning, Barnett was able to help his team’s cause by reach first place on a fielding error.
Barnett would eventually find his way to third base, but Tracy would come up with two big strikeouts to try to get Borger off the field without giving up a run. Unfortunately on Tracy’s second strikeout, the Bulldogs tried to pick off Barnett at third base but a throwing error allowed the Falcon pitcher to come home to score the winning run.
The Bulldogs drop to 2-9 for the season while Bushland improves to 8-1. The Bulldogs will next begin District 1-3A play on Saturday in Dalhart beginning at noon.
