Elza “E.J.” James Hays, Jr.

Elza “E.J.” James Hays Jr., 69, of Beaverton, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1941, in Pampa, to Elza Sr. & Elzora (Reid) Hays. He enlisted into the United
States Air Force on Feb. 1, 1963, and retired Sept. 25, 1973, as a Staff Sergeant, serving in the Vietnam Era.
He was employed as a truck driver for Transport Services of Midland and moved to Gladwin County in 1973, previously residing in Texas.
He was a member of F.O.E. Albright Shores Aerie 3655.
He is survived by his daughters, Sara (Jeff) Dorer of Grandville, MI, Amber (Brad) Hassler of Buckley, MI, Trista Wallace of Roanoke, VA; son Elza (Ashlie) Hays III of Gladwin, MI; six grandchildren; mother: Elzora Cummings of Texas; sister Lana (Doc) Wilkinson, also of Texas; brothers: Tom (Helen) Hays of Oklahoma, Jack (Judy) Hays of Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his son James Martin Hays, daughter Kathryn Ann Hays; father Elza Hays, Sr; brothers, David Hays & Donnie Hays.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan.
