El Paso CC takes two from FPC Plainsmen

The start of the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen series with El Paso CC did not get off to a good start as two bad innings helped El Paso take game one 12-8.
The Plainsmen struggles continued in game two as El Paso’s bats stayed hot to defeated Frank Phillips 14-5 to take both games on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Stephen Seger, who has been solid on the mound much of the season, struggled in the first inning in game one by giving up a double, walk, single and a grand slam to give El Paso a 0-4 lead before the Plainsmen could get the first out.
The Plainsmen rallied in the bottom of the second inning on rbi singles by Jenner Jones and Robert Cossey, along with a two rbi double by Leo Vargas, to tie the game at 4-4.
El Paso took back the lead on a rbi single in the top of the fourth inning. However the Plainsmen right back in the bottom half of the fourth scoring four runs to make it an 8-5 game.
Vargas captured his third RBI during the inning along with Brady Capshaw, Gabriel Castro and Ceasar Wong having RBI singles in the inning.
The Plainsmen appeared to be on their way to rolling towards a win but in the top of the fifth the wheels seemed to come off for the Plainsmen as three walks and three errors helped El Paso score six runs in the inning to go ahead 8-11.
Seger took the loss on the mound in game one, pitching four and a third innings giving up seven hits, four walks and nine earned runs.
At the plate the Plainsmen were led in game one by Vargas, who went 2/4 with two doubles and three RBI’s
